On Aug. 15 historic Glen Park Swimming Pool will mark its 75th anniversary.

City Recreation Coordinator Cindi Danke says the park’s swimming pool has brought many years of entertainment to many community families.

As part of this summer’s milestone celebration, several pool improvements are being planned.

Some include construction of an expanded pool deck to create a larger area for families to gather; several new benches encompassing the pool area; storage cubicles; tables; chairs; umbrellas; and more.

Danke said these improvements will help provide a new, inviting look to the historical pool and ensure an environment exists for families to enjoy for years to come.

To make this idea a reality, Danke says help is needed.

The city of River Falls has dedicated funding for half of the necessary $15,000 for the project upgrades and milestone celebration.

It’s necessary for the rest to be self-supported through the community. Danke said this sponsorship provides a rare opportunity to illustrate commitment to the River Falls community.

Businesses and individuals can support the pool with tax-deductible donations of any amount.

Bench Sponsorships are available for $750.

There are a limited number of sponsorships available for a newly purchased durable PVC coated benches, inscribed with a permanent donation plate identifying the sponsor ($750 donation).

Businesses and individuals may also choose to honor the pool’s years of service with a donation of $75 dollars.

In addition, to the improvements planned for this year’s birthday celebration, the city is also working to improve the bathhouse, replace the pool’s heating system and other maintenance items over the next five years.

All donations to the city designated for the pool will be used for these improvements.
